Disha Vidyalaya
Sangeet Bharati is opening a branch in Pune, India to work on a new project called “Disha Vidyalaya”, a vocational school operated by Sangeet Bharati -Youth Initiative USA, Pune, India Branch.
Sangeet Bharati, a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organizaion is expanding its charitable efforts to open a vocational school project called “Disha Vidyalaya”, for severely impoverished slum-dwelling high school dropouts in Pune, India. The school will provide up to six months of instruction in basic literacy, the English language, and computer skills. We will also assist students with job placement. We are starting small at this juncture. We expect to serve six children during the first six months.
The institution will employ one part-time or full-time paid teacher hired from India, a few volunteers from India and up to two visiting volunteer teachers on a rotating basis from the United States.
Any funds and donations raised for the school will be raised and earmarked separately from the general funds of the Sangeet Bharati.
Heera Kulkarni has already purchased two new Toshiba laptops for this project. We also need donation of one new laptop with webcam so that the staff and students located in Pune, India can talk to us in California.
